Christina Staemmler
Specialist in Psychiatry & Psychotherapy
Appreciative, body-oriented psychotherapy — with enough room for what matters most as a human being.
About
Background & approach.
I was born in Reutlingen in February 1974, the middle of three siblings. After a foundational studium generale I began studying human medicine at the universities of Tübingen and Heidelberg, completing my licensing in 2006 — after a break for parental leave following the birth of my son. Having enough time for my family always mattered to me.
My training as a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy took me through several clinics. At the Centre for Psychiatry in Wiesloch I gained a solid grounding in psychiatry; at the ZI in Mannheim I spent a year acquiring skills in treating people with trauma-related disorders and emotionally unstable tendencies (CBT-DBT).
After my specialist examination in 2016 I left the inpatient setting and joined a psychiatric practice in Heidelberg as an employed psychiatrist and psychotherapist, gaining valuable experience in outpatient psychotherapeutic treatment. In 2022 I opened my own practice in Heidelberg, where I work 2–3 days a week alongside my role at Dr. Daniel Zeiß's private practice in Frankfurt.
I am trained in depth-psychological, hypnosystemic and systemic therapy (including constellation work) as well as couple coaching (the “Couple Care” method). I particularly enjoy working with the PEP method, which combines body-oriented techniques that regulate the nervous system with the appreciative transformation of unhelpful beliefs and biographical patterns.
My focus areas are depression, reactions to serious life events, trauma-related and anxiety syndromes, couple coaching and the transformation of unhelpful patterns, as well as support with physical illness. Mindfulness-based and — where wished — meditative approaches also play a part in my work.
